How To Attract Prospects and Signups In 6 steps, If Old School Prospecting Isn’t Working

Network Marketing is a tough business. If it’s been easy for you from the start, I say congrats. But I’m willing to bet you are with the 99.9% of us who found it to be a major challenge at some point.

When I started my network marketing business business 2 years ago, I thought my company training was awesome.

Make a list of everyone I know.

Talk to everyone on that list (don’t leave anyone out).

Make a chicken list.

The product sells itself.

Do home meetings.

Invite people to hotel meetings when a leader was in town.

Set up 1 on 1 meetings in Starbucks.

I did it all.

When that didn’t work, I went to the cold market. I tried to prospect anyone that moved. Imagine eating dinner at a restaurant and trying to figure out how exactly you were going to invite your waitress to take a look.

Traditional Prospecting Works……For Some People.

Let me first say that this traditional way of building a network marketing business excites some people. Clearly it is effective, because it has produced successful people for decades.

One big company we all know is still #1 in this niche. They are all about traditional prospecting. So the method works.

But is it the best way to build a business?

It depends on what suits you.

If the internet wasn’t around, I would still be cold calling 20 realtors a day. One can make anything work if one’s desire is strong enough.

But why do that if there is a method more suited to my personality and strengths. A method I believe to be superior, that gives more reach, more leverage, and levels the playing field.

If you prefer building offline, great! You may have high influence, or may be a social butterfly. It works for some people.

But if you’re anything like I was, then you’re sick and tired of begging friends, family and strangers. You hate the no-shows at Starbucks when you are already on a tight schedule. You’re embarrassed when you expect a full home meeting, only for no one to show up.

If that’s you, then I’ll describe how attraction marketing completely changed all that.

Let me first say that clearly I didn’t invent this. I learned this from 7 & 8 figure mentors, who have used and taught these principles.

So here is the 6-step strategy to building a successful business online by using attraction marketing.

The first step is to determine your target market. The best target market for me to go after, consists of people who already believe in a home business.

Think how much more efficient it is to get your message and product in front of people who are already interested in what you have. No more weird objections:

“Is this a pyramid scheme?”

“I don’t have time.”

“I don’t have the money.”

These are folks who already believe in network marketing. If you can market to them in the right way, then it’s all over.

So how exactly do I market to these people?

People are attracted to people who can help them. By positioning oneself as a leader, others naturally gravitate toward you. So how can you position yourself as a leader?

By becoming a person of value.

Value is giving information away that solves the problems your target market is faced with. If you can address those problems, then they see you as an authority.

Let me give an example. When I first started to create content, I wasn’t sure anyone would notice. I would send my blog post to my list, not expecting anything in return. All I knew was that my mentor had instructed me to deliver helpful information.

Sure enough, I started receiving replies from my list. People were noticing. I got responses about how helpful my content was. I opened emails where people were asking what I did, and wanting to join whatever program I was in.

See, when I solve people’s deepest problems, people became attracted to me. But to do that, I had to first acquire the knowledge and skills to address those problems.

Invest in yourself to get the knowledge/skills. Read books. Jump on webinars. Subscribe to the email lists of online leaders.

The good news is that you do not need to know everything. Most people have no idea what they are doing. So all you need is to be a step ahead of your target market.

Imagine checking your email every morning and seeing leads, commissions, and people who have signed up to your business opportunity. All while you slept.

This is entirely possible when you have a system that works in autopilot. Having a marketing system in place that sells for you creates leverage.

Instead of trying to figure out when you will have the time to run that home meeting after work, you now have a funnel. This funnel brings in qualified leads, markets to  them, and follows up with them.

Once you have a good funnel in place, it does the heavy lifting for you.

So you can imagine how convenient this is if you are transitioning from a job or have several kids. You can still run your business with much less effort than if you had to prospect the traditional way.

That’s leverage.

Many network marketers believe that their company and products are the greatest opportunities there ever was.

I had a conversation with a friend who is in a fast-growing company that is known for having integrity. She told me the company is going nowhere and will always be around.

Unfortunately, companies come and go. No matter how good you think your company is, they can be gone tomorrow.

People don’t care if your company helps people in poor countries, or that they made 100 Million in 3 years. They want to know that you can help them to achieve their goals.

That’s why I learned to brand myself. I learned to market myself as someone who can add value and build trust with my target market. Someone who can help them succeed in their businesses.

Your knowledge, experience and value cannot be taken away.

The best offline recruiters sponsor 3 of every 10 people they talk to, on average. So the normal person would sponsor roughly 1 of 10 people. That means 90% of the people I speak to will say ‘No’.

One really cool thing about the attraction marketing strategy is that you profit from the 90% who say ‘No’ to your opportunity.

How is this done? By providing a solution to their pains. You see, most network marketers are not interested in your business opportunity.

Many will join eventually, if you are giving high quality value. But I’ve accepted the fact that most will say no. Instead I’ve learned how to turn the 90% into customers.

How?

By having a solution to their most pressing needs.

The Attraction Marketing concept has allowed my mentors to build wildly successful businesses in a relatively short period of time. This is what I learned and it’s working for me.

It’s really cool when I see leads, commissions, and sales in my inbox whenever I made an automated sale or a sign-up.

It’s a far cry from when I was out pounding the pavement for my next prospect.

If you like home meetings and prospecting waitresses, then cool!

But if you prefer to have a business that’s working for you while you are on the job, or when you’re out with the family, then you owe it to yourself to check it out.
